This recipe is a must try. These meatballs are the best. If I had to choose one recipe to ask you to try, that would be the one. I have made it over and over again. Meatballs like in the photo cooked on a cookie pan in the oven or big burgers grilled. I served them to kids and grown-ups, Greeks, Americans, non-Greeks, non-Americans, for lunch, for dinner, on weekdays, on weekends, informal or formal dinners, you name it. Everybody loves them! And do you know what’s best about these magic meatballs? My entire family has now learned how to make them. Yours?
Servings: 4 Calories per serving: 382
- 1 pound or 1/2 kilo minced meat (preferably lean beef/veal
- 6 tablespoons ketchup
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- 1 onion, pulped
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/3 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan
How to make: Put all the ingredients in a big bowl and mix very well using your hands until all the ingredients are folded in nicely. Take small portions in your hand and shape them into meatballs (one at a time). Line a cooking pan with aluminum foil, makes cleaning the pan really easy. Cook them in pre-heated 390F/200C oven for about half an hour. Done!
Notes and tips: The secret of this recipe is primarily in the ketchup. I’m not a ketchup girl, not at all. I only use ketchup in this recipe but it’s what makes it special. Don’t pass on it.
