These appetizers are easy to make and kids-friendly; for when you need a little something to spice up the family day. Just be sure not to forget them in the oven like I did… You want them to look like the one at the bottom in the photo, not the one at the top! My forgiving kids loved them all, nonetheless… Credits for the recipe go to Kristia Mavroidi.
Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 250 grams or 2 sticks butter
- 1 cup flour
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup ground Parmesan
- 5 ham slices, cut in small squares/cubes
How to make: Bring the water and butter to boil. Turn off the fire and add the flour all at once. Use a wooden spoon to mix it well with the liquids. When it’s a little cool, add the eggs one at a time. The dough will become smooth and shiny and will not stick at the sides of the pot. Fold in the Parmesan and the ham. Spoon the dough in a battered or lined cookie pan. Make sure you leave enough room around each dollop as they will expand when cooked. Cook for 20-25 minutes at 360F/180C.

These days I add chia seeds to most of my recipes. Here’s what the ham and cheese appetizers look like with chia seeds. Just add a tablespoon of chia seeds in the mix.
