Best marinade for pan seared ahi tuna

This is not a new recipe for mydinnertoday but cooked a little differently, served a little differently and with extra emphasis on the marinade. The marinade is the secret of this recipe.

Recipe

Ingredients for marinade for 2 fillets

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1  tablespoons chilly sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 onion, chopped (use green onion, sliced, if you have them)
  • 2 teaspoons lime juice

How to make: Rub the ground ginger on the ahi tuna fillets. Combine the remaining ingredients and pour over the fillets. Let the tuna in the marinade for at least 2 hours.  When ready to cook, heat a pan and sear the tuna for a few minutes on each side. Slice and serve on greens as in the photo above or the whole fillet with  rice as in the photo below. I had the sliced version with the greens. The kids had their tuna with rice and my husband with both 🙂 You have to try this marinade. If you try it with regular tuna, let me know if it came out good.
